Settings and Customization
Configure workspace settings, add custom fields, manage preferences, and set up integrations.
Settings and Customization
HypLab provides settings to customize your workspace, extend the data model with custom fields, and configure preferences. This page covers all settings sections.
Settings overview
Settings are organized into three areas, accessible from the sidebar:
- General (
/settings) -- workspace-level settings with tabs - Preferences (
/settings/preferences) -- display and personalization options - Integrations (
/settings/integrations) -- API keys, webhooks, and external connections
General settings
The General settings page has three tabs:
Onboarding tab
Update the onboarding data for your workspace:
- Company context, use case, industry, and target audience.
- Updating onboarding data can trigger template regeneration -- review your templates after making changes.
Custom Fields tab
Add workspace-specific fields that extend the standard field library. See the Custom fields section below for details.
System Fields tab
A read-only view of all standardized fields:
- People fields: 15 groups with 113+ fields.
- Persona fields: 8 groups with 58+ fields.
- Expand each group to see individual field names, types, and descriptions.
System fields cannot be modified. Use custom fields for workspace-specific additions.
Custom fields
Custom fields let you capture data specific to your use case that isn't in the standard field library.
Creating a custom field
- Go to Settings > General > Custom Fields tab.
- Click "Add Custom Field".
- Configure the field:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Field Key | Unique identifier (e.g., campaign_engagement_score) |
| Label | Human-readable name (e.g., "Campaign Engagement Score") |
| Description | Optional explanation of the field's purpose |
| Field Type | Person (for people records) or Persona (for persona records) |
| Data Type | string, number, boolean, date, datetime, array_string, or array_number |
| Field Group | Which group to display this field in |
| Required | Whether the field must have a value |
- Click "Save".
Where custom fields appear
- In people or persona create/edit forms, inside their assigned field group.
- In template field selection, so you can include custom fields in generation.
- In detail views, alongside standard fields.
Editing and deleting custom fields
- Edit: Go to Custom Fields tab, find the field, click "Edit", update, and save.
- Delete: Click "Delete" and confirm. Warning: deleting a custom field removes it from all records. Data in that field is lost.
Preferences
Located at /settings/preferences:

- Number format -- regional number formatting.

Integrations
Located at /settings/integrations:
API keys
- Generate API keys for programmatic access to the HypLab API.
- Manage and revoke existing keys.
- Set permissions per key.
Webhooks
- Set up webhook endpoints that receive notifications when events happen (e.g., person created, persona updated).
- Test webhook delivery.
External integrations
- Connect CRM systems, analytics platforms, marketing tools, and external data sources.
Access control
Organization-level
- Members: Invite users to the organization, assign organization roles (Owner, Admin, Member).
- Billing: Manage organization billing (if applicable).
Workspace-level
- Members: Add organization members to the workspace, assign workspace roles (Admin, Editor, Viewer).
- Permissions: Control who can do what within the workspace.
Tips
- Complete onboarding carefully. Accurate onboarding data leads to better AI-generated templates.
- Use custom fields sparingly. Only create fields you actually need. The 113+ standard fields cover most use cases.
- Secure your API keys. Don't share them publicly. Rotate them periodically.
