Templates

Templates are blueprints that control what data HypLab generates. They specify which people fields and persona fields to fill in, so you get exactly the data you need.

How templates work

A template contains:

• Name and description -- what this template is for (e.g., "Enterprise Decision Maker")
• Category -- B2B or B2C
• People fields -- a list of person fields to populate when generating (e.g., demographics, contact info, transactions)
• Persona fields -- a list of persona fields to populate (e.g., buyer profile, obstacles, evaluation criteria)

When you generate people from a template, the AI only fills in the fields that the template specifies. This keeps the data focused and relevant.

Template types

Dynamic templates (AI-generated)

• Created automatically during workspace onboarding.
• 5 templates are generated based on your onboarding answers.
• Tailored to your industry, audience, and use case.
• Examples: "Entrepreneurial Mom", "EU Tech Engineers", "Enterprise Decision Maker"

Manual templates (user-created)

• Created by you through the Templates page.
• Full control over field selection.
• Can be edited and deleted.

Viewing templates

The Templates page shows all templates in your current workspace.

Each template card displays:

• Template name and description
• Category (B2B or B2C)
• Number of people fields selected
• Number of persona fields selected

Click a template to see the full detail view with expandable field lists.

Generating people from a template

1. Go to Templates.
2. Select a template.
3. Click "Generate People".
4. Choose the number of people (1-10 per generation).
5. Click "Generate".

What happens during generation

1. People are created -- the AI generates person records using only the fields listed in the template.
2. Persona is created or updated -- the system checks if a persona already exists for this template. If yes, new people are added to it. If no, a new persona is created.
3. Everything is linked -- generated people are linked to the persona, and both are saved to your workspace.

You can generate from the same template multiple times. Each batch adds more people to the same persona.

Creating a custom template

1. Go to Templates.
2. Click "Create Template".
3. Fill in the details:
   • Name -- a descriptive name
   • Description -- what this template is for
   • Category -- B2B or B2C
4. Select people fields -- choose which person fields to populate. Fields are organized by group.
5. Select persona fields -- choose which persona fields to populate.
6. Click "Save".

Editing templates

1. Click on a template to open its detail page.
2. Click "Edit".
3. Update the name, description, or field selections.
4. Click "Save".

Editing a template does not change people or personas that were already generated from it.

B2B vs B2C templates

Field selection tips

For people fields

• Always include Name and Contact, Demographics, Identity.
• Add based on use case: Transactions for revenue analysis, Behavioral for product analytics, Consent for compliance testing.
• Don't over-select. More fields isn't always better -- focus on what you actually need.

For persona fields

• Always include Buyer Profile, Buying Trigger, Desired Outcomes.
• B2B: Include Strategic Themes for strategic insights.
• Validation Metadata: Include if you want to track evidence sources and confidence levels.

Tips

• Review before generating. Expand the template to see exactly which fields it will populate.
• Start with dynamic templates. The AI-generated templates are a great starting point. Create custom ones after you understand the data model.
• Generate in small batches. Start with 3-5 people to verify the output before generating more.
